I have a little bit of a different post coming to you today. Over the past few months I have had so much fun creating this blog and connecting with others. One exciting thing that happened to me recently is I got nominated for the “Sunshine Blogger Award” by Erin from Thank you Erin for the nomination, I am so grateful 🙂

  1. Why did you start you blog, and what do others get from reading it?-I started my blog to have a creative outlet in my life. I love to write down my thoughts and help awaken others to see their greatest good. I want others to get encouragement and inspiration from reading my post. I want them to know that they are a force for good and love in this world.
  2. If you had to give your personality a color, what would it be and why?-Pink because the color itself is so happy and vibrant, and I feel this resembles me well. It’s also a staple in my wardrobe as well ha 🙂
  3. Do you have pet? Dog or cat person?-Yes, my family has three dogs and one cat, and I am a dog person 🙂 
  4. Fav drink?-My favorite drink at the moment is water with a bit of fresh lemon juice in it.
  5. If you could give one piece of advice to a new blogger, what would it be and why?-Considering I am still relatively new to blogging, I would say keep with it even when you feel discouraged. People can get mean and not understand where you are coming from. When that happens just choose to see them with love and keep doing you. You are the one that wants to do this, so don’t let others bring you down.
  6. What is your fav thing about yourself?-My smilie would have to be my favorite thing about myself. I feel my best when I am surrounded by people I love. I love laughing and smiling because it reminds me how grateful I am to be here today.
  7. If you had to have one last meal what would it be and why?-Veggie fajitas because it so delicious. You can really do no wrong 😉 
  8. Hobbies?-My other hobbies include being an active member of Alpha Chi Omega at Minnesota State University, Working at Primp Mankato, cooking, reading, and working out!
  9. Did anyone help you when you first started blogging?-No, I have had no help! It has been a lot of trial and error and learn as I go. The process has been so fun and rewarding.
  10. What is one of your dreams?-One of my dreams is to help awaken others to see their true selves. I believe that everyone is beautiful and has a force for good. I want everyone to know that they are loved and that they have love.

Finding Your Purpose

IMG_0853We all have a purpose, and each of ours is different. Some of us are confident that we know exactly what ours is, and others go on a mad hunt to find it. If you find yourself thinking, “I know I have a purpose, but I’m not sure what it is”, don’t fret, you’re not alone. It can take some of us a whole lifetime to awaken our true meaning, if that’s how we make it.

When we feel lost and confused in our lives it’s easy to not know why we are here. We can get in a state of disorientation and block ourselves from seeing our true potential. And we don’t allow ourselves to open up to the idea of a greater good. We begin to slip through the cracks and fall down the rabbit hole not knowing where we are going… We get misguided and confused until we realize that the direction we are heading is not intended to where we need to go. Then, with the snap of a finger something pulls you back. You get back on your path and you get redirected. Call this fait, or whatever you want, but it happens, and it always happens for a reason.

You were put on this planet for a purpose, no doubt about it, and you will find it.

Sometimes we need to be knocked off of our paths to keep us on our plans. It shows us just how unique we are and that we have to remain true to ourselves. We become more aware and appreciate for what we have and what we will have.

Not only does misguidance stray you from your purpose, but so does looking too hard for it. We start to become consumed in our thoughts and obsessive with our actions. When we go looking for our purpose we can become engulfed in our thoughts and can only think about ourselves. We follow by manipulating our thoughts and feelings by telling ourselves the wrong things are our purpose. After a while fate kicks us back onto our path and pulls us in the right direction again… We no longer are searching for our purpose.

We need to stop searching for our purpose and just live our lives 110% genuine to who we are. We need to live out of thoughts and actions and be just who we want to be, because that is when we will start to live out our purpose.

When we live our lives and live out our passions are purpose comes naturally. It takes us no thought or effort, it just happens. It might even happen without realization until later, when you find yourself at peace. You are in a stare of feeling so happy and fulfilled at all times- bliss.

This is what I want for all of us, to live in a state of bliss. The state of perfect happiness and pure joy.

Find your bliss, find your purpose.

Live your life true to who you are and you purpose will be there, don’t go searching for it, just listen to yourself.

Self Care

a8282621d4fe30717de5fab28975b7a3It only seems appropriate to talk about self care a few weeks after talking about self love.  🙂 Self care is exactly what it sounds like, it’s about taking care of yourself. It’s similar to self love but it’s going one step further. You could view it as showing and/or doing something for yourself that you love.

Self care is important because it keeps our energy and vibration high. It allows us to feel and do good. It helps keep us grounded and connected to what’s going on around us. But, if we don’t care for ourselves properly than we can’t fully care for others. A perfect example of this is in airplanes. They tell you to put on your own oxygen mask before you help others! It is so important that I’ll say it again, you need to care for yourself before you can care for others. A consequence if you don’t care for yourself is that you’ll be  running on low energy and out of balance, and this is something we want to avoid to be our happiest and healthiest selves!

With that said, self care should be looked at from several different angles such as: mind, body, and spirit. Think of them all as equals intertwined, you can’t have one without the other. If you think one is lacking in your life than I encourage you to try and strengthen it! Below I have an explanation and some examples for each 🙂

Caring for you mind means making sure you are mentally aware and conscious. You do things that make you think, learn, and grow. You could do this by reading a book, watching a documentary, talking to a friend about your thoughts and emotions, or even finding like minded people to talk and be creative with. Anything that sharpens and activates you mind will work wonders! Some great books to read can be found here, and some great documentaries to watch can be found here. Check them out and see if any interest you!

Moving on, caring for your body means treating it in the best way possible. You can do this by making sure you are properly nourished and hydrated. Fill your body with the best food you possibly can and drink your water! Have nourishing and mindful meals daily. Take your mealtimes to decompress and truly be present. Allow yourself to feel gratitude towards your food and everything around you. Put down your phone and be mindful while you eat. After making sure your body is fully charged, make sure to activate and engage it- get your sweat on! Aim for some type of movement every day. It can be little or big, just be sure to move. Some fun ways to get your body moving are going for a long walk or run, participating in yoga, spin, pilates, or playing a family game of baseball. The goal here is just to keep your body in the best condition you can, think of it as a temple and treat it that way too! 🙂

And finally, caring for your spirit. Remember, it is equally as important to care for your spirit as it is caring for you mind and body. I think this is a big one a lot of people miss because we tend to forget about it. Which is kind of a bummer because it allows us to connect with something bigger than ourselves, which can open so many doors. If you aren’t connected spiritually than you can be missing the bigger picture to life. Having this connection allows you to be present, grounded, focused, and you can allow yourself to give your all to the universe, expecting only the best in return. When you are connected spiritually you can grow and transform into the person you have always wanted to be. I think it’s something we can all work on, no matter how comfortable we feel with it. Some great ways to do this are by praying, meditating, having gratitude, reading, learning, and more. There is never too much that you can know, so go for it and learn as much as you can (or as much as you want to ;))! Some great teachers you can learn from are Tony Robbins and Gabby Bernstein . Even if you are totally disinterested in anything along these lines I highly suggest you learn more about it before you turn it down forever 🙂 You never know, you could become the next big guru ha;)

Mind, body, and spirit- they all come together to make us whole. If you aren’t practicing self care take today to start. Make it a goal to get all three in each and every day, even if it’s just in a small way. In order to respect yourself, you must care for and love yourself.

Giving it up to the universe


I’m giving my “all” up to the universe and you should too.

I had a book recommend to me not too long ago by a dear friend. It’s call The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein- have you heard of it? If not, be prepared to read it and feel inspired to change your life for the better. Right away I fell in love with the whole meaning of the book and all it has to offer. I read it for the first time in two days and soaked-up all the information like a sponge, needless to say I am kinda obsessed. I have even recommended it to a handful of other people as well. The second I started reading it I texted my friend and said, “you need to read this ASAP!” She agreed, read it, and became obsessed too 😉

I have always been a big fan of self-help/ motivational books, but in my opinion this one is different, and different in a good way! It’s less about self-help and more about self-awakening. The whole message behind this book is about transforming your fears into faith and awakening your purpose. It teaches us how to give up our control and give it all up to the universe. By doing this we can actually relax and live, and when we live like this we know things are getting done and taken care ofIt’s a life about freedom and purpose.

Throughout the book there are many meditations you can practice and mantras you can say. One of my most favorite mantras goes like this, “I witness that I am out of alignment with my power. I choose to see peace instead of this.” This mantra is to be used when you witness that you are getting upset, stresses, worried, sad, or any other emotion that pulls you farther away from your center. I have it saved in my phone to refer back to when needed. There are so many more in this book that I almost have every page dog-eared, ha!

After reading  this book I can truly say it has changed me. I feel inspired to find the best version of myself possible and to find my true purpose. I know I’m not there yet but I don’t have to fret because the universe has my back, and it has yours too.

Outfits from June

Yayy for my first fashion post! If you follow me on Instagram or are friends with me on Facebook then you might already know that I am a stylist at Primp! I am so, so, so grateful for my job! I love it with all my heart and I love all my co-workers even more! I honestly couldn’t imagine my life without it now!

Fashion is one thing I am so passionate about. I think it is so great how people can show the world who they are through what they wear. People can express their thoughts, feelings, emotions, and style all with what they wear- how cool is that?! To me, it’s such a great thing when you can combine one of your passions with you job. Everyday I get so excited to go to work and am so happy while I am there. I love getting to help people pick out outfits to show the world who they are. And one thing I loooove almost more is that I can express myself in my outfits while I am there!

To document my outfits, and advertise Primp on my social media profiles, I almost always take a picture of my outfit and then post it on social media. I think it is such a great way to express myself even more and draw people into the store.

Self Love.


Self love.

The thing that could change the world.

When you hear the phrase “self love” what comes to mind? Do you think of the word selfish? Do you picture yourself standing in front of a mirror saying, “I love you“? Or, do you think nothing of it at all because it’s just another “motto”?

Self love- it’s more important than we think, and it’s such a shame not all of us are practicing it.

To start with, having self love does not make you selfish. In fact, having self love makes you anything BUT selfish- it makes you selfless.

Having self love means you only do things that will bring out the best in you. You have respect, dignity, pride, integrity, honesty, and optimism. You do things to make you happier and healthier. You surround yourself with positive vibes and good energy. You enjoy the company of up beat and cheery people. You make a conscious effort to only speak kindly to yourself and think positive thoughts. You are always finding ways to grow, learn, and experience new things. But most importantly, you love yourself for who you are. 

You love yourself so so so much that it radiates out of you. Other people see your glow and want what ever it is that is doing this to you. Oh, what little do they know. You understand you are the only person on this planet that can make you genuinely happy 100% of the time. You have found a home from within you because, “you are so strong and so capable of so many things”, and knowing this is comforting enough to understand you can do anything.

When you love yourself so deeply you don’t let negativity effect you, in fact you hardly let it around you. When you have this self love you are actually helping others because when you hear other people talk badly about themselves you stop them dead in their tracks. BOOM. You cut them off and tell them they ARE good enough, they ARE pretty enough, they have what it takes, and most importantly, you tell them and show them they are loved.

By doing this you are showing, and teaching, others the right way to live. You are showing them what self love is by just being who you are, and you are teaching them by helping them love who they are. We all need to help the world become a better place and fill it with more love! A world that has more people full heartedly loving themselves will shine.

Love yourself and have self love.

Take today to practice it if you don’t already because you are about the change the world!


And just some though provoking questions for us to think about, that I really don’t know the answer to: when did it become a taboo thing to love yourself? And why to people make it seam as if it bad? It’s necessary to have self love becasue how could you ever aspect to love someone else if you can’t even love yourself first?

No Competition


Life is not a competition and there is no finish line for this journey. We are all going at our own pace with different destinations in mind. We will all get to where we need to go but at our own speed. We all have different paths with unique bends and turns in the road. Some are longer, others shorter, some rigged, others smooth, and some can get cut shorter than intended, but, the one thing we all have in common is that we can help each other along the way.

Life is not a competition and we have no competitors. We are all on the same level and on the same team- no one is better than one another (even if someone thinks they are, they aren’t). Since we are all on the same team, we need to lift each other up and help each other reach our fullest potential. We need to experience, love, inspire, collaborate, and celebrate all in one lifetime.

When we have each other to count on it makes our lives more meaningful and rich. We need to be genuinely happy for one another with each success, and be there as a helping hand for each failure. When we do this we get to experience more emotions with each other that connect us on a deeper level. And that’s what life is all about right- creating meaningful relationships and memories with the ones you care about the most?

When you start to realize that life isn’t a competition you begin to find joy in watching others shine and succeed! You get to become so proud of your friends and family and all that they have accomplished. You even encourage them to let their light shine through! You stop being so hard on yourself and comparing yourself to others- which relieves a world of stress and tension off of your shoulders, and because of this you start to feel lighter and fresher. You begin to see the world as a beautiful place where everyone is all connected on some level. You start to appreciate the small things and see the bigger picture. All of this, and more, just becasue you came to the realization that life is not a competition.

Go through your own world at your own speed with no rush. Take your time and enjoy the journey- you aren’t in a race. Encourage others to do the same and help them reach their fullest potential.

There is no competition and you have no competitors.

Celebrate others successes and be there for their failures.

Be present.

Speak It


Wowza! Can we just take a second to acknowledge how real and genuine this quote is?! My manger put a picture of this up in our store the other day and when I saw it, it made me take a step back. It struck home so hard because of how true and real it is. It’s  one of those quotes that really makes you think and reflect on how you are living your life. You start to ask yourself: have I been doing this? have others been doing this to me? how much more genuine could I be living my life if I acted on this? Thinking about it made me want to go out in the day and tell everyone how great of a person they are, becasue in my opinion, everyone is great and has beautiful qualities! So, if you haven’t heard this in awhile, YOU are an amazing person and are living a beautiful life!! Keep doing you and never stop!

Now, If you see something beautiful in someone, speak it! Tell them, show them and let them know! When we let others know what we think of them (positive things only please 🙂 ) it allows us to form deeper connections and more genuine relationships. People also enjoy hearing these nice things because it reminds them that they are a great person and that they are doing things right. And please, a little complement never hurt no one- haha 😉

When you tell someone their beautiful qualities it opens you up and makes you become more “raw”. People don’t typically enjoy talking about things like this to others, or even worse, talking about emotions, but do it! Open yourself up and allow your thoughts and emotions to flow. (Almost) everyone is scared about what others will think, or how they will react when they do something like this, but you know what? Just go for it! The only person that is going to think and overthink about it that much is you! Don’t hold yourself back, just tell others their beautiful qualities and you’ll be amazed at how excited they are to hear something so kind!

Telling someone their beautiful qualities doesn’t necessarily have to be external features, it could be how compassionate they are towards others, or how quick-witted and funny they are. Anything that makes up a person, or makes then uniques, makes them beautiful- so keep that in mind 🙂 And once you start you kinda can’t stop. It’s like a little game you can play with yourself. Find beautiful qualities in everyone and everything! Even in people you think have none, find one and let them know. Chances are they are the ones that need to hear it the most. They might need to be reminded just how beautiful of a person they are to get them centered back to who they truly are.

Challenge yourself today and tell others their beautiful qualities and don’t be shy! Watch their face light up as you tell them and how much lighter they’ll carry themselves throughout the rest of the day. You have the power to make anyone happy just with your kind words.

So, if you see it, speak it!

Go With Your Gut


When they say, “trust your gut”, or “go with your intuition” they don’t lie. It’s a real thing and you should follow it too! The gut doesn’t lie when something feels off, or when something feels right, and sometime we chose to ignore those feelings and do what we “think” is right.

Many of us try to follow our thoughts and reasoning when it comes to making decisions. As a result, we chose to ignore how we feel. Emotions today have almost become a taboo topic. No one wants to talk or even think about how they feel, let alone express and/or act on those feelings. And why is this? Some people would rather take a job offer that is more “logical” and know they won’t enjoy as much, than take a job offer at a place they would genuinely  love and enjoy. But, we all do it, we do it because we “think” we are right and know what we want for ourselves- but in reality we do know what we want, we just aren’t listening to ourselves through our emotions.

In the long run you’ll be more happy and satisfied if you do what feels right rather than what you think is right. Life is not always about logic. Sometimes we need to take a step back to go a step forward, and that’s okay. You’d rather do what feels right and be happy, than do what you think is right and be dissatisfied.

I guess what I’m trying to say is listen to you gut, trust your emotions and follow your instinct. Don’t be shy of your emotions. Act on them, think about them, and talk about them. We need to bring this back and stop trying to ignore them! Being logical is a great thing, but sometimes is just not the right thing. Only you and your emotions know what can really make you happy, so listen to them! You do not need to do anything to please anyone other than you. Ignore what common society has to say! If you really want to do something out of the “norm” than do it! If you don’t want to go to a university and would rather go to culinary or art school than do it! If it makes you feel happy it’s the right choice, and I’ll support you all the way 😉 Eventually others will respect and understand your decisions and choices too. They’ll admire you for doing something you love and enjoy- they’ll even start to envy you haha!

Do what you love and love what you do.


Listen to your gut, trust your emotions, and follow your instinct. Do what makes YOU happy.


Logic isn’t everything.

Peanut Butter & Cacao Granola

Yay, it’s humpday! Today I am going to share with you a crazy good (and addictive) granola recipe! You’ll be surprised at how easy and fast this recipe is, I know I sure was!

One thing I love to do is cook/bake! I am almost always in the kitchen testing out new recipes and experimenting with new foods. For me, it’s something I enjoy and find so pleasurable. Every now and then my friends and I will even get together and try out new recipes- talk about major fun right there! Or, if I find something sooo good and absolutely love I’ll stop what I’m doing and text it to my friend right then and there (hey Miranda, that’s you ;))!

One way I find great recipes is by following food bloggers on Instagram, or, another is finding them in health food cookbooks. The recipe that I’m sharing with you today is adapted from Rachel Mansfield‘s blog, but of course, I put my own twist on it 😉 It’s chocolaty, peanut buttery, crunchy, and crazy good!

Granola is such a great thing because of how easy and versatile it is. You can have it for breakfast, as a snack, use it as a topping, or you know, use it to cure all other major problems… haha if only 😉 Okay, now onto the recipe…


What you’ll need:

Microwave safe bowl

Mixing bowl


8×10 pan

parchment paper

Ingredients you’ll need:

1/4 cup natural peanut butter, crunchy or smooth

1/4 cup coconut oil

1/4 cup maple syrup, or less if desired

1/2 tsp vanilla

2 tbs cacao powder

2 1/2 cups gf oats, or regular oats

1/2 c quinoa/ amaranth mix, or sub in more oats


  1. Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees, then line the 8x 10 pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Place the cacao powder, oats and quinoa/ amaranth blend in the mixing bowl and set side.
  3. Place the coconut oil, peanut butter, and maple syrup in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, stir, and then microwave for another 30 seconds. After, mix all the ingredients together and make sure the coconut oil is melted all the way through. Add the vanilla, stir, and then pour over the dry ingredients in the mixing bowl.
  4. Stir all ingredients together with the spatula and then pour onto the lined pan. Spread out the mixture evenly and pat down with the spatula. The thicker you have it patted down the more clusters/ chunks there will be- do so according to preference.
  5. Once done place in the oven for 15 minutes. After the 15 minute mark take out and stir. This helps ensure that it gets cooked all the way through. Place back in the oven for another 7-10 minutes and then take out.
  6. Once the granola has cooled you can place it in a container and store in the fridge for up to a week.

And there ya have it! A quick, simple, and easy recipe. You can now have this granola with almond milk, dairy-free yogurt, on top of oatmeal, or just grab a handful for a snack. Anyway you have it I’m sure you could do no wrong- enjoy!
